Scrapbooking Your Family History

You've heard the saying, "Who's your Daddy?" Well, have you been wondering who's your great grandmother or great-great grandfather? Have you ever thought about Scrapbooking Your Family History?

To scrapbook your family history is to start on a journey like no other. A journey to uncover the lives of your ancestors who have come before you. You are a part of a long line of people with wonderful personalities and amazing stories. Stories of joys and triumphs...stories of sadness and loss...stories of hopes for a great future. Come learn to document those stories and create a scrapbook of your family's history. It can and will be a treasure you and your relatives will hold dear for years to come that will celebrate all those people in all those stories.

During this 5-week course the student will:
  • Learn how to start and organize the research of your family history and find out where to get the best info on the internet
  • Learn how to interview your family to record historical facts and family stories to use in your scrapbook layouts
  • Create a family pedigree chart, family group sheet and various types of Family Tree layouts and projects
  • Learn aging techniques and use specific fonts and page embellishments to create a heritage feel to your scrapbook pages
  • Create over 15 original scrapbook page layouts and embellishments using samples and sketches with full instructions, layout variations and supply options
  • Use supplies that you already have on hand and break out some old tools you haven't used in a while
During weeks one and two, students will learn how and where to research your family history, organization of information and preparation of a family pedigree chart and family group sheet(s). But each week we will devote to scrapbooking your photos and memorabilia. So even if you are already a genealogical sleuth, this class is for you...come join us to create a tribute album for your family.

The class will include narrated slide shows, downloadable PDF tutorials, links, templates, discussion forums, student gallery and access to the course instructor.

Please note: This class is not an all-encompassing genealogy course. It is a primer to get you started on your search and help you learn where to look and how to compile information. The more time you put into researching your family, the more information you will find. Genealogy and the search for your family history can be an ongoing process that will outlive the time frame and scope of this class, but you will be provided with the tools to continue the search long after the class is over.
